SGPC meeting held to discuss centenary events dedicated to 100 year centenary of Jaito Morcha

Amritsar, August 28, 2023: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) held a sub-committee meeting today to discuss and plan events dedicated to the first centenary of the Jaito Morcha (front).

The meeting was attended by SGPC general secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal, member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, executive members Sher Singh Mandwala, Bibi Gurinder Kaur Bholuwala, member Kewal Singh Badal, research board member Harvinder Singh Khalsa, OSD Satbir Singh Dhami and secretary of Dharam Prachar Committee, SGPC Balwinder Singh Kahlwan.

In the gathering, a discussion was held regarding the events to be organized on February 21, 2024, dedicated to the 100-year centenary of Jaito Morcha.

Giving information in this regard, SGPC general secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal said that the main event of the 100th centenary of the Jaito Morcha by the SGPC will be held at Gurdwara Sri Gangsar Sahib Jaito on February 21, 2024. He said that the events will begin with Sri Akhand Path Sahib (uninterrupted recitation of Guru Granth Sahib) on September 12, 2023, at Gurdwara Sri Gangsar Sahib, Jaito. He said Amrit Sanchar (initiation ceremony) will be held and Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) will be held at night on September 13, 2023. Similarly, on September 14, after the bhog (concluding ceremony) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, a Gurmat Samagam will be held, in which famous kathawachak (discourse narrators), raagi, dhadi and kavishar jathas will connect the people with the Gurbani and history.

Bhai Grewal said that in today’s gathering, it has been considered to prepare an album of pictures (Jaito De Morche Di Khooni Gatha) through an art workshop based on the lives of the Sikhs who were martyred in the Jaito Morcha, and this task has been handed over to Harvinder Singh Khalsa. He said that dedicated to the 100-year centenary, the SGPC will organize religious competitions of students’ speeches, painting, kavishri, dhadi, etc. He said that a series of religious congregations will be conducted in different villages to create awareness among the Sangat regarding this centenary.

Present on this occasion included in-charge Kartar Singh, manager of Gurdwara Sri Gangsar Sahib Sukhraj Singh.
