Chandigarh, October 20, 2023: As per media reports, during anti-corruption campaign, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Sanjeev Singh, resident of village Bareke, posted as field worker, civil hospital Mamdot, Ferozepur district for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000.
According to the news published in The Tribune, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said official has been arrested on the complaint of Jagdish Singh, resident of village Mallwal Kadeem, who have lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line in this regard.
According to the VB Officer, Jagdish Singh complainant has alleged in his complaint that the above said health official had taken Rs 50,000 for helping him in lieu of amendment in a medico-legal report (MLR) after an enquiry from a special board of doctors.
As the accused was making false promises, the complainant has recorded the conversation with the said official regarding payment of bribe money which was submitted to the VB as an evidence.
Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that during investigation, it was established that the accused had received Rs 50,000 as a bribe from the complainant. The above said official was arrested after finding him guilty for taking gratification in the said case. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.
In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused official at Vigilance Bureau police station Ferozepur range.
