A court on Sunday extended by two days the police remand of Congress MLA Mamman Khan
Chandigarh, September 17, 2023: As per media reports the Congress alleged on Sunday that Firozpur Jhirks Congress MLA Mamman Khan, was arrested due to a “political witch-hunt” and demanded a judicial probe into the Nuh violence under the supervision of a high court judge.
Firozpur Jhirks Congress MLA Mamman Khan, who has been arrested in connection with the July 31 communal violence in Haryana’s Nuh district.
According to the news published in The Tribune former chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the Haryana Assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress president Udai Bhan issued a joint statement, asking the government why was it “afraid of a judicial inquiry”.
“The people of Haryana know that Congress MLA Mamman Khan was arrested due to a political witch-hunt, hence it is necessary for the truth to come out,” the statement said.
Bhan and Hooda alleged that inflammatory comments were being posted on social media platforms since 15 days before the incident and the government was sleeping.
“This makes it clear that there is definitely something dark and sinister that the government is trying to hide. The government’s inaction seems to indicate either its complicity or its failure,” they said.

A court on Sunday extended by two days the police remand of Congress MLA Mamman Khan. Meanwhile, the state government has again ordered suspension of mobile internet and bulk SMS services in the district till Tuesday midnight.
