Chandigarh, August 31, 2023: After giving an assurance in Punjab and Haryana High Court on withdrawing its decision to dissolve Panchayats in state, Punjab Government has suspended Principal Secretary Panchayat D K Chaudhary and Gurpreet Singh Khaira, Director Panchayats.
Earlier, the Punjab government had dissolved all of the over 13,000 panchayats in the state, paving the way for civic body elections, expected to be held in November.
The Panchayat Samitis and the Zila Parishads, had announced by the 25th November, 2023; and (ii) the Gram Panchayats, had announced by the 31st December, 2023.”
