Bathinda, October 5, 2023: As per media reports, former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Badal’s anticipatory bail plea dismissed by the court of additional district and sessions judge of Bathinda on Wednesday.
Manpreet Badal was booked in connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of a property in the district.
According to the news published in Indian Express, Badal’s counsel Sukhdeep Singh Bhinder told the media in Bathinda that they will now move the high court in the matter.
The Vigilance Bureau (VB) had booked Badal and five others in connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of two plots measuring 1,560 square yards in Model Town phase-1 Bathinda.
Three persons had already been arrested in this case, while arrest warrants were issued in the name of Badal on September 26. Several teams of the Punjab VB had conducted raids at various locations in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan but Badal was yet to be nabbed.
Badal earlier had applied for anticipatory bail on September 23 but on September 24 an FIR was lodged against him because of which the anticipatory bail was withdrawn on September 26 and a fresh bail application was filed on September 28. – Indian Express reported.
