Peshawar, July 25, 2023(PTI) Anju, an Indian mother of 2, who moved to Pakistan from India, got married to her Pakistani Facebook friend on Tuesday after converting to Islam. The couple got married in the local court of the District and Sessions Judge. “The marriage of Nasrullah and Anju was consummated today and after her conversion to Islam, the marriage took place,” Mohammad Wahab, a senior officer at the Mohrar City Police Station in Upper Dir district, told news agency PTI. Both appeared in the Dir Bala district court in the presence of Nasrullah’s family members, police personnel and lawyers, police said.
Malakand Division Deputy Inspector General Nasir Mehmood Sati confirmed the marriage of Anju and Nasrullah and said that the Indian woman was named Fatima after she converted to Islam.
According to the Geo News report, he further informed that the Indian woman has been sent home from the court under police protection. Earlier on Monday, both Nasrullah and Anju went on an excursion amid tight security. Police officials said that they visited the Lavari tunnel connecting Dir Up district with Chitral district. Anju and Nasrullah were seen sitting in a lush garden and holding each other’s hands in the pictures of their visit to the tourist spots.
Anju was born in Kailore village of Uttar Pradesh and lived in Alwar district of Rajasthan. Anju has shared a video from Pakistan, in which she says that she “feels safe” in Pakistan. She said in the video, “I want to send a message to everyone that I came here legally and planned and I am safe here.
I request all media persons not to harass my relatives and children.” Anju is married to Arvind from Rajasthan. They have a 15-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. Anju reached Pakistan legally through Attari-Wagah border.
