AMRITSAR: July 19, 2023: As per media reports Kirandep Kaur, the wife of Waras Punjab organization chief Amritpal Singh , has been stopped from leaving the country for the third time on Wednesday.
According to the news published in ‘THE TIMES OF INDIA, despite the confirmed tickets, she was stopped for the first times on April 20 from Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport and then on July 14 and 19 from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport.
Sources said that Kirandeep’s travel plans were allegedly connected to an upcoming ceremony honoring Khalistani Sikh leader Avtar Singh Khanda who died under mysterious circumstances in a hospital in UK, in the recent past and was believed to be a close associate of pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh who is lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail along with others under the National Security Act (NSA), – The Times of India added.
Sources apprehend that Kirandeep could deliver inflammatory speeches in the UK, potentially fueling hatred against India.
When contacted, Kirandeep first refused to talk on the issue, however after persistent perusal, she said, “I was stopped for the third time when going to UK, as the law requires me to make an entry by 180 days. During April, certain media platforms and individuals thought I was fleeing back to UK but one can not simply flee back home,” she said.
She said she had booked her ticket exactly a month in advance after confirming with police officials that everything was clear but was asked to wait until July 18.
”Unfortunately, today I was stopped again,” she said. Kirandeep said that being a British citizen, there were different rules that apply to her. “Since April 20, I booked a flight for July 14, a month in advance after confirming that I will not have any issues. Up until the morning of departure I was told that everything is clear for me to go, a few hours before boarding time I was asked to not leave,” she said.
“They said that I should wait for some days until the 18th. “Unfortunately, today I was stopped again,” she said, – The Times of India, added.
